One of the biggest mistakes small business owners make on social media is posting without knowing exactly who they’re talking to. When you take the time to identify your target customer (the person most likely to buy from you) you’ll be able to create posts that speak directly to their needs, interests, and problems.

Think about:
Who buys from you now?
What do they value?
What challenges do they face that your product or service solves?
Where do they spend their time online?
Once you’ve defined this person (or group), every post you create should feel like you’re speaking directly to them.
And here’s where the strategy comes in... your content shouldn’t all look the same. To get results, mix in three types of posts:
1. Growth Posts
These are designed to reach new people. Think trending Reels, shareable tips, or posts that answer questions your potential customers are searching for. Growth posts expand your audience and put your business in front of fresh eyes.
2. Connection Posts
Once people find you, they need a reason to stick around. Connection posts build trust and relationships. Share behind-the-scenes moments, your story, customer testimonials, or relatable content that makes people say, “This business gets me.”
3. Conversion Posts
This is where you make the sale. Conversion posts highlight your products or services and give people a clear reason to buy now. Think limited-time offers, product showcases, or direct calls to action that guide followers to your website or store.
The good news? You don’t have to figure out all of this on your own. I help business owners come up with weekly content ideas that balance growth, connection, and conversion- so you always know exactly what to post to reach the right people, build relationships, and turn followers into customers.
