If you’ve ever felt like your business’s social media posts are getting lost in the shuffle, you’re not alone. Many business owners pour time into creating posts, only to see little engagement or reach. The truth is, the way people use social media has changed… and videos get shared with bigger audiences than photos or text posts.
That’s where Reels come in.
Reels aren’t just for influencers or big brands. They’re one of the easiest, most effective tools for small businesses to get noticed by new people... people who aren’t already following you. Let’s break down why that matters and when you should still use regular posts, too.

The Algorithm Explained
Think of the social media algorithm like a matchmaker. Its job is to show people content they’ll find interesting... even if they’ve never heard of your business before.
Instagram and Facebook are putting a huge priority on short-form video (reels) to try to compete with the popular social media platform Tiktok. Which means they have adjusted their algorithm to show these short-form videos to more people and regular static posts get less push.
Regular Posts: The algorithm usually only shows these to people who already follow you. Valuable for staying connected with your current audience.
Reels: Pushed out to people beyond your follower list. This is how you get discovered by potential new customers.
So if your goal is growth and bringing new eyes to your business, reels will give you the edge.
Why Reels Perform Better
Beyond the algorithm, here are a few more reasons Reels are such a powerful tool for business owners:
Engage quickly: Video naturally grabs attention faster than text or static images.
Show personality: Reels give you a chance to connect in a more relatable, human way.
Ride the trend wave: Using trending sounds or formats increases your chance of being seen.
In short: reels = visibility.
But Don't Completely Ditch Regular Posts
Does that mean you should stop posting photos or graphics? Not at all. Regular posts still play an important role.
When to use them:
To share detailed information (like product descriptions, event details, or long-form captions).
To give your profile a consistent, professional look when someone clicks on your page.
To highlight important updates or information that you want your followers to save or refer back to.
Think of it this way: Reels are for reaching new people. Posts are for nurturing the people you’ve already reached. Both have a place in your strategy.
Why Most of My Templates Focus on Reels
Because reels are the fastest way to grow your reach and visibility, most of the templates I create for business owners are reels. I want you to have plug-and-play content ideas that actually work with the algorithm... not against it.
If you’re wondering what to post, start simple. You don’t need fancy equipment or a marketing degree... just a phone and a willingness to show up. That’s why my templates break things down step-by-step so reels feel easy and doable, not overwhelming. I tell you exactly what to film so you can create your own reels quickly.
Of course, I also include caption prompts, static post ideas, and newsletter templates, but the reason I lean so heavily into reels is simple: they’re where the growth happens.
The Bottom Line
If you want to grow your business and reach people who don’t already know you, posting more reels is the way to go. Use regular posts to educate and connect with your followers, but lean into reels for visibility and growth.
That’s why my weekly content drops focus so much on reels... because they give you the best shot at being seen by new customers.
